Professor Ian Neal, Professor of Higher Education and Associate Dean (Head of Research, External Engagement and Resources) of the Faculty of Education and Society at the University of Sunderland

“Dr David Mossley worked with the University of Sunderland during its work to develop the use of learning technologies across the University.  The project’s vision was wide and focussed not only on electronic technologies but ‘human technologies’ too, in that we wanted to make certain that whatever we developed would be properly embedded in the Learning and Teaching experience by students, academic staff and support staff.  David’s ability to understand quickly our vision and needs was impressive.  He was able to inquire into and interrogate our outline vision and focus it into a collection of objectives that we could work on to achieve our goals.  David had at his fingertips a wide range of techniques, approaches and personal styles that allowed him to pull together a disparate group of academic and support staff from across the University including a Deputy Vice-Chancellor, a Professor, several Faculty senior staff, several lecturers and technicians, and representatives of our Students’ Union  into an effective working group that developed an approach to working which was fulfilling as well as successful.  The outcome of the project was highly successful and this was, in large measure, due to David’s skills and personality.”
